Results to Date *updated June 2011*

Between IRB approval at our center in San Diego, CA in June 2010 and May 2011, we report on clinical outcomes in 240 patients with Multiple Sclerosis following venous angioplasty, due to come out in a peer-reviewed Scietific journal mid summer 2011.  Using the Multiple Sclerosis Impact Scale (MSIS-29) to measure physical and cognitive symptoms pre treatment and again at 1 and 6 months following treatment, these are the results:  At one and six months, 68.3% and 52.8% were improved on the physicial scale respectively, and 52.8% and 45.6% were improved on the cognitive scale, showing statistically significant improvement across age, gender, disease type, and duration of symptoms.  Of those that improved, 30% showed marked-improvement.  Restenosis of the veins ocurred in 6.3% of patients, who needed to come back for second angioplasty.  One relapse was confirmed by gadolinium enhanced MRI, one week after clinical symptoms of restenosis.  There were no serious adverse events.
