David R. Hubbard, MD - Chairman of the Board

David Hubbard, MD is a neurologist, fMRI researcher, and Chairman of the Hubbard Foundation board.  He is a founding member and treasurer of the International Society for NeuroVascular Disease (ISNVD), along with Drs. Zamboni, Haacke, McDonald, Simka, and Zvadinov. He is the Medical Director of the Applied fMRI Institute and has been researching blood flow within the brain since 2007. He began studying Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Central Nervous System (CNS) blood flow when his son was diagnosed with MS in 2009.  He is co-author of 2 publications on CCSVI, has 2 of his own publications pending, and has spoken internationally on CCSVI.

He received his BA in Philosophy from Yale University (1970), MA in Counseling Psychology from Stanford (1971), and his MD from the University of Connecticut (1977).  Dr. Hubbard’s neurology residency was completed at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, NY), where he was Chief Resident, and he continued his education in Cognitive Neuroscience at University of California San Diego (2003).

Arlene Hubbard

Arlene Hubbard, MS, OTR/L - Vice-Chair, Secretary

Arlene Hubbard, MS, OTR/L, is the wife of David Hubbard, MD, and mother of Team Hubbard. She is an Occupational Therapist by training with a Masters degree in Counseling. She helped implement the first cardiac rehabilitation program and BMHC in New York City. She and David Hubbard, MD, initiated the neurology rehabilitation program rounds, in an effort to discern which patients required early rehabilitation. Arlene and David have over 30 years of experience working together and conducting research. Following their son Devin's diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis in 2009, Arlene was disapointed to learn that little progress had been made in the traditional treatment of MS. This prompted her to seek alternative approaches, which eventually led her to Dr. Paolo Zamboni's CCSVI theory. The discovery led to CCSVI treatment for Devin and the resolution of his symptoms. He has been lesion free for over a year. Arlene's love for her son and her deep commitment to all MS patients ultimately inspired and motivated the Hubbard Foundation to begin studying CCSVI in 2010. Since then, 400 people with MS have been tested and treated for CCSVI through the Hubbard Foundation.

Arlene has been the catalyst for promoting a healthy lifestyle and diet for MS-CCSVI patients. In addition to her work with the Hubbard Foundation, Arlene works with Dr. Sandy McDonald on the Public Relations Committee of the International Society for Neurovascular Disease (ISNVD.org). Arlene enjoys meeting with patients and their families during her frequent visits to the Hubbard Foundation's Applied fMRI Institute in San Diego.

Danielle Rhéaume, MFA - Communications Chair

Danielle Rhéaume (pr. ray-ohm) is the CCSVI Communications Manager for Vascular Access Centers—a Philadelphia-based healthcare company with outpatient treatment centers throughout the United States. She works closely with the CEO, Dr. James McGuckin, an interventional radiologist and bioengineer, on development and administration of VAC’s CCSVI program, which is proudly part of the Hubbard Foundation Multi-Center Registry for the Study of CCSVI. She also regularly plans special events, creates educational materials, and advocates for MS/CCSVI patients in the United States and Canada. As a citizen of both countries, she is uniquely positioned to understand the challenges patients experience on both sides of the border.

Danielle is also uniquely positioned to understand both MS and CCSVI, because of being diagnosed at birth with a rare, complex and incurable venous malformation in her left foot. Throughout adolescence and adulthood, she learned what havoc problematic veins could wreak in the body. So, when she came across Zamboni’s CCSVI theory within days of receiving her MS diagnosis in May of 2010, she was already convinced there was a strong correlation between CCSVI and Multiple Sclerosis. She then committed herself to getting treatment, while also increasing knowledge of CCSVI within the MS community. Just a couple of days after being diagnosed, she pitched a story on CCSVI to Seattle’s ABC news affiliate, KOMO. That autumn, KOMO followed Danielle and fellow patient, Tarah Virgil, down to the Hubbard Foundation to document their successful and beneficial CCSVI procedures. That was when Danielle’s association with the Hubbard Foundation began. Today she is delighted and honored to be on their Board of Governance, where she is able to bring her writing experience and passion for CCSVI to the Communications Committee

She has a Master of Fine Arts in Research-based Nonfiction Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles (AULA) and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from The Evergreen State College (TESC) in Olympia, Washington. She currently resides in Seattle, where she is an active member of the patient led advocacy group, CCSVI in Seattle. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her black standard poodle, as well as writing a book about her experiences discovering and returning the lost lyrics to U2’s album October
